I found the best way to install the cover is to register the top tabs first, and then seat the bottom tabs. Removal is done in the reverse order. Pull up on the bottom tabs first. If you must use a tool or screwdriver, be very careful not to scratch the paint on the saw or place undue pressure on the plastic walls of the cover. If the fit is too tight (I'm not sure how tight and consistent Makita's machining tolerances are), you can easily dial in the fit by taking some sand paper or a file to the tabs.
