The Chisel-Free Bow Tie System

Creating bow tie inlays shouldn't require hours of chisel work and hand fitting.

The Bow Tie Master Kit was designed to make the process simple. By including both the pocket templates and the matching bow tie templates, you can create perfectly fitting inlays using nothing more than a router and router table.

Whether you're stabilizing a crack in a live edge slab or adding a decorative detail to a piece of furniture, you'll spend less time fitting parts and more time building.

Three Simple Steps

1. Route the Pocket

Secure the template with double-sided tape and route the bow tie recess using a 1/4" router bit.

2. Make the Matching Bow Tie

Use the included positive template to shape the bow tie itself on your router table. We recommend rough-cutting it on a bandsaw before doing the final trim on a router table.

Because both templates come from the same design, your bow tie and pocket are designed to fit each other from the start. They will be tight, which is what you want. You can lightly sand the sides of the bow tie with 120-220 sandpaper until you get the nice friction fit you're looking for.

3. Glue It In

Add glue, press the bow tie into place, and sand flush after it dries.

No chisels.

No tedious hand fitting.

Just clean, repeatable results.
